Overview

Main purpose of the job:
 
Assist the Operations Director in the day to day running of the warehouse and services department ensuring that the Company standards, safe working practices and good housekeeping are maintained throughout all areas in the location whilst ensuring that customer requirements are fulfilled on schedule.
 
The Operations Manager’s responsibilities include day to day management of the service department, supervision and team motivation, scheduling and labour control, asset management, inventory control and other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.

  • Previous experience in the industry and knowledge of the warehouse environment necessary.
  • Essential knowledge of the technical equipment.
  • Excellent people and leadership management skills.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to give clear direction.
  • Ability to think strategically and to convey ideas effectively to others.
  • Solid decision making and planning skills with the ability to adjust priorities, decisions and actions to respond to multiple demands and new information.
  • Good knowledge of the PRG Gearhouse technical principles of operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • A desire to understand and keep the customer’s needs continually in the forefront when taking actions.
  • Ability to drive improvements and lead operational improvements.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills.
  • Enthusiastic, with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to perform under pressure.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety working practices.
  • High degree of numeracy and literacy, with a disciplined approach to attention to detail.
  • A willingness to continue to learn and develop in the role.

Responsibilities

Summary of principal duties and responsibilities include:
  • Ensure that overall work planning and resource allocation and activities are undertaken to meet the business requirements on a daily basis.
  • Ensure planning, forcasting and scheaduling of the Service Department.
  • Stock & supplier managment
  • Work with departments to ensure equipment prep lists are accurate and ready for warehouse prep inc equipment availability.
  • Assist the Operations Director to manage the Operations Team ensuring they are clear about expected standards of performance to provide a consistent and high level of services.
  • Produce staff daily job sheets and monitor work output and standards.
  • Maintain up to the minute equipment status using the Company’s equipment software system, Winhits. This includes current stock and the asset and barcoding of all new equipment received so that it is available for rental promptly.
  • Ensure staffing levels and skills available are adequate for current and forecasted operational requirements.
  • Ensure all warehouse procedures are followed and kept in place.
  • Assist and  help manage Goods In and Out of the warehouse including the safe loading and unloading of vehicles.Assist with Shipping documents as required for movements within GCC.
  • Oversee the warehouse and surrounding premises, ensuring they are kept clean and tidy and that the Company’s Health and Safety Policy is adhered to.
  • Supervise and organise the dispatch and return of equipment, ensuring that the relevant paperwork is completed and filed for reference.
  • Manage sub hire receipts and returns, ensuring that all hires are processed and returned on time and correctly documented.
  • Liaise and ensure full co-operation with other departments / venues / Project Managers as necessary to ensure that the customer’s requirements and the operational targets of the Company are achieved.
  • Manage and schedule the undertaking of the annual stock cycle count with operational departments. Complete reports to document the results.
  • Identify efficiencies and cost savings within the operation.
  • Ensure Company Health and Safety rules are maintained at all times, instigating new Health and Safety procedures where necessary.
  • Identify and implement new working procedures and practices.
  • Oversee the management of the PAT test system and annual testing and certification of all Company equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to Company quality standards, company policy, safe working practices, sustainability, professional housekeeping and staff discipline.
  • Work closely as a team with Heads of Department to discuss and resolve collective issues.
  • Attend weekly project management meetings to understand the future needs of the business.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to develop and optimise individual and team capability.
  • Ensure adequate trucks/vehicles and labour are reserved for equipment load as per projects in good discussion with the Project Managers.
  • Assist in managing regular vehicle maintenance, coordinating repair and servicing.
  • Assist in managing and overseeing any building maintenance required.
